Lesbian and gay employees of United Airlines are in the process of forming a group to lobby for domestic partner benefits and to encourage company participation in gay and lesbian events. The group, called Gay and Lesbian United Employees Coalition, or G.L.U.E. Coalition, plans to publish a bi-monthly newsletter to promote member networking and to address various medical and social issues and how these issues relate to employment at United. The coalition also intends to be represented at local and national lesbian-gay events and marches. The first national meeting is planned in conjunction with the March on Washington on 25 April 1993, where the coalition will also be represented by a contingent in the March.
United Airlines employs over 85,000 people throughout the world. The G.L.U.E. Coalition will be the first lesbian and gay organization at a major U.S. carrier, and if successful in their efforts to secure domestic partner benefits, United Airlines would be the largest corporation to provide its employees such benefits.
The coalition is open to all employees of United Airlines and its subsidiaries. Information about the organization and confidential membership applications may be obtained by writing to G.L.U.E. Coalition, 2261 Market Street #293, San Francisco, CA 94114-1693, or by calling 800-9993448.

Holiday ornament benefits AmFAR. Don't Panic! Designs, the Los Angelesbased T-shirt design company is focusing its creative energies in the fight against AIDS this holiday season. They have created a red-ribbon holiday ornament entitled Miracles Happen, to benefit the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR).
Miracles Happen suspends the red AIDS awareness ribbon inside a glass ball; the words "Miracles Happen" are inscribed on its surface. Of the $9.95 suggested retail price, $3 will go directly to AmFar to fund AIDS research and education programs; the rest covers manufacturing, shipping and retailing costs.
